Postcards!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a very lucky girl today. I got THREE postcards today. One from Sequoia National Park, one from Lake Tahoe, and one from Addis in Ethiopia. AND it was sunny today :)

Mission

Today was a big day. I've always been afraid of the extremely large car that has been left to my disposal. Not only is it very big, but I have to drive it on the opposite side of the road to places I've never driven to before. Today I came a little closer to conquering those fears. I drove it to the shopping mall. Now this may be a small victory, but an important one non the less.

My mission: to buy jeans, and $149 later I did just that.

It does not stop raining, rain rain rain all night and day.

Hat joins the painting...

This is kind of like my painting diary. Showing the layers of what will eventually become the final product. Today I did the under painting for the canoes, the Fuji, and the red sky. I also put in a certain hat....

When it rains, it pours...

And then subsequently makes me poor. Seriously who in this modern day and age gets a J-walking ticket. All I wanted to do was have a lovely day in the city. You know, visit a couple art galleries, get some sushi. Instead I a) Had to run to catch the train b) got a $40 j-walking ticket while crossing the road and c) the gallery was closed b/c they were installing a new exhibit. So I went into a dark and stormy mood and went home hungry. Bright side? It wasn't raining for the first time in 5 days.

I have a blank canvas. And oh all the possibilities it may bring....

A whole new 'Hat'

So I've decided to start writing in my blog again. After four months of not writing, I am finally ready to be back. In not writing about my daily adventures or misfortunes, I feel like I've lost a piece of myself.

Since this turning of a new leaf has occurred, it is time for a new theme, and maybe name change. Now, I have pondered a few names... And while the 'Hat' still occasionally travels, it mostly sits on a hook on the wall. But since it still goes with me everywhere, and I can't very well take away the essence of the blog, the 'Hat' aspect has to stay... Hmmmmmm...title... 'Hat works at a cafe', no, no, that won't do. 'Hat sits in limbo'... 'Hat has no direction in life'. At a loss with changing the title. Well I am starting a new painting... maybe I'll name that, and this 'Hat Under the Great Wave'. I think I like that one, and when (and if) I finish the painting, you'll see why.
