APT 6

I visited the Modern Art Gallery in Brisbane today (for the second time this year). But this time to take some pictures to share with you the brilliant work that is being shown in the 6th Asia Pacific Triennial.
Kohei Nawa, 'Pixcell Elk #2', 2009
This piece was such a treat to walk around and inspect. This Japanese artist Kohei Nawa bought a taxidermied elk online. Then covered it with these glass balls. So part of the elk is distorted, but other parts are magnified. You can see hair underneath, and empty eye sockets.

Subodh Gupta, 'Line of Control', 2008

Rudi Mantofani, 'The Lost Note', 2006

Zhu Weibing & Ji Wenyu, China, 'People Holding Flowers', 2007
One of the artists comes from a background in fashion design, the other sculpture. Together they've created this comic, yet thoughtful piece of social commentary.

Oh- And I'm almost an Auntie Bailey- how exciting!!!!
